@matuzalem I had a diesel chevette, long ago. After I sold it it lasted years more ( a neighbor bought it)
@matuzalem @gemswinc I've never owned a new vehicle, and I doubt I will ever own a new vehicle.
@NiveusLepus @gemswinc same here. My dad used to buy old station wagons in the 70's, last one cost him 800$ and lasted 7 years.
@matuzalem @gemswinc My GMC Canyon will be 18 next year.
She cost me more than any other vehicle I've ever had, but she's served me well over the last 6 years, and, knock wood, is showing no signs of slowing down at 200k.
We just dropped some money on her motor to keep her fit, but she's a fine truck.
Not fancy, but there's cruise, and AC and a backup camera I had installed. All I need really.
@NiveusLepus @gemswinc I would love that with a Cumins engine ;)
@matuzalem @gemswinc When the engine blows, it's likely I'll drop another one in. If I can afford something like a cumins I'd be right down for it.
@NiveusLepus @gemswinc yeah affordability for a conversion like this is an issue.
@matuzalem @gemswinc If I had all the money in the world or whatever, I'd still drive a used car, but it would be a heavily modified for reliability used car.
@NiveusLepus I donated my 2004 Prius to NPR, ( almost 200kmiles) and kept my husband's 2008 Honda Element, with much less mileage. I'm hoping it's my last car @matuzalem
@gemswinc @NiveusLepus we need million mile cars ;)
@gemswinc I like to drive old cars that people discarded.
