The spell check in my captioning program is broken. It's suggesting a completely different phrase as an alternative to an ableist slur, and while I don't disagree with the sentiment, that is not how closed captioning works. They said what they said and my job is to type what they said.

It also thinks "cleaner" is the correct spelling of "janitor."

As someone who depends on closed captions it pisses me off when people change what was said. Do not “clean” what was said.

It pisses me off when words are changed—they did this during The Diplomat and it annoyed the fuck out of me.

This is like people changing the meaning of translated text. It pisses me off. Don’t make it correspond to my culture. Translate. If I am interested I’ll look up the references. Don’t dilute the meaning.

I can handle the truth.

@feloneouscat I don't like it either. I'm going to have my supervisor yell at the devs for messing with the spell check like that.
