Alexandra Petri: “I would be a little embarrassed that it has fallen to me, the humor columnist, to make our presidential endorsement. I will spare you the suspense: I am endorsing Kamala Harris for president, because I like elections and want to keep having them.”
At least ONE person was able to get WaPo endorsement out.
Just goes to show billionaires are not to be trusted with our country.

@feloneouscat I wonder what kind of regulatory environment would be needed to establish a press free from that kind of interference.
Perhaps that could be achievable if spectrum licenses, press passes, etc etc were only granted to media organizations operating under a consumer cooperative (subscriber cooperative?) or worker cooperative model, where they're wholly owned by their subscribers or workers respectively - and their leadership were thus elected by their subscribers or workers?
@feloneouscat I'd imagine a media landscape almost entirely composed of (or at least dominated by) a bunch of worker co-ops/consumer co-ops would at very least be *somewhat* better than what exists now...
In such cooperatives ultimate power is distributed among a lot of people, which should in theory reduce the odds of undue influence being exerted over editors/journalists. Especially if there's a fast/effective mechanism for [as applicable] workers or subscribers to give rogue execs the boot.
@feloneouscat @Bix
It would have been wonderful of before he quit, the outgoing Editor in Chief would have printed that they endorse Harris on the front page of the last edition they released...
