I notice that almost always the people who don't want to give up even thinking about owning a gun always say that it's not a gun problem but a "mental health crisis".

Um... Maybe a country with such a "mental health crisis" shouldn't have such easy access to guns?

@Animeraider

Mental health is NOT driving gun violence.

The science says so.

If you want to spend money for mental health, that’s great. I’m all for it. Truth is, Republicans are solidly against mental health spending (2022):

“On Thursday, the House passed a bill aimed at expanding access to mental health services in schools that garnered only one Republican vote, despite the party’s ceaseless scapegoating of mental illness for issues in the U.S.”

@feloneouscat Oh I agree completely. My point is simply that the argument doesn't hold water at even the most sarcastic level.

"Great, we have a mental health crisis. Let's give them guns."

“Our goal is that no child will ever feel afraid at school and no Texas family will ever experience the grief that followed the horrible school shooting at Santa Fe High School,” Lt. Gov Dan Patrick said.

So as a state we regularly terrorize children by staging active shooter drills.

Over HALF of school children report anxiety or depression. Huh. Wonder why?
