No. We spend the most because we have legacy military bases in other countries. We believe we are the world’s police. One only has to look at the UN to see how important the US believes itself to be.
We spend the most because Congressional Republicans believe we should be ready to win the next world war. This is idiotic.
We NEVER won a World War alone. That is a myth.

That is very true. I think in the Pacific, America did win that part of WWII. Europe though? America helped. England held the Nazis off long enough that America eventually entered. But it was Russia that pushed the Nazis all the back to Hitlers bunker.
