McCarthy: “every single Democrat made a choice to bring chaos. Every single Democrat decided that this was the best way forward.”
No. This a stupid rewrite of history. It took FIFTEEN VOTES and some incredibly stupid concessions to the Chaos Club before McCarthy was chosen Speaker. One of those conditions ultimately used as blackmail: it took ONE person to “take a vote of confidence”. This is why government ALMOST shutdown.
So what about “every Democrat made a choice to bring chaos”?
Republicans had ALREADY stated there would be ZERO bipartisanship; that they wouldn’t share power with Democrats.
Democrats COULDN’T even initiate the vote. And why would Democrats vote for someone who waffled on shutting down government?
Since Y2K Republicans and ONLY Republicans have shutdown government. They pass bills and then decide they don’t want to pay for them.
They’ve held our government hostage for over 23 years.
