“It is not the Democrats’ responsibility to vote for a Republican speaker, nor is it ever the minority party’s responsibility to vote for the majority party’s speaker. It is the Republicans who have a majority in the House. And so instead of relying on the Democrats to do their job for them, perhaps the Republicans should use the majority that they campaigned for and that they currently enjoy to elect a leader of their own party.”
That would assume the GOP is sane.
The reality is the GOP as a party has been broken for 17 years. Jim Jordan has NO LEGISLATIVE HISTORY. His greatest accomplishment is appearing on TV! That’s not a joke, it’s actually true. He is divisive and is incapable of coalition-building.
Yet 200 Republicans voted for him without threat or intimidation on the first round.
The Republican Party is either full of idiots, hate America’s government, or is in absolute denial about what their job entails.
Let me be 1000% clear: the Republican Party voted OVERWHELMINGLY and without threat to have a WASTE OF SPACE as Speaker of the House. They did this WILLINGLY.
You want to make an easy $174 grand? Run against your Republican representative. Just repeat this over and over. Tell the American people what these awful examples of Americans are doing.
Their job? Hell, most just think their job is to collect a check!
Jeffries has had THE MOST VOTES for speaker. He needs eight more.
Just a clarification: Republicans are now attempting to argue that they were threatened and attacked.
This is true, BUT ONLY AFTER THE SECOND VOTE.
So TWICE the majority of Republicans voted for Jordan, a useless appendix of a representative, without threat, without argument and with full knowledge they did so BY CHOICE.
These attempts to muddle the timeline have even been posted here on CoSo!
Republicans are not the victims. They INTENTIONALLY sought to go it alone.
When Democrats offered bipartisanship they spat at them and said there WOULD BE NO BIPARTISANSHIP; THERE WOULD BE NO POWERSHARING.
Republicans are now attempting to frame their massive fuckup as a Democratic issue. It is not.
Republicans are 100% responsible for the loss of their Speaker. Democrats have no responsibility to assure Republicans don’t fuck things up. We are not their Mommy and Daddy.
If they want to pretend to be adults, fine.
And you see what pretending has got them.
@feloneouscat Too bad their idiot constituents keep reelecting them. They are the real problem.
The Republican Party MUST be bipartisan. They need to vote for Jeffries.
This is called political reality.
Republican fantasy time is over.
Stop doing the Republican Party’s work. WE FUCKING PAY YOU!
Act like adults and WORK with Democrats.
Don’t, and we really will bury you next November.
