Note to prosecutors: if you’re going to hide exculpatory evidence, try to avoid doing so in a nationally covered case. It looks bad on your resume.
Why the defense in Alex Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case in New Mexico were able to get a dismissal with prejudice:
I believe the theory of charging Alec Baldwin was that he was actually practicing shooting using a gun with live ammo and should have known better.
The evidence the prosecutor hid was that lots of live ammo was brought in by a 3rd party without anyone’s knowledge.
The defense found out about this in the middle of trial so they could not use the evidence to mount the defense they should have.
“With prejudice” means it’s dismissed forever.
