Along with drastic reductions of gubanatorial powers under state declarations of emergency, this spells very bad news for quick responses of any kind to emergency operations for states!

Curbing Governorsโ€™ power to act in an emergency seems the height of stupidity. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ

@evamarie
yet it was part & parcel of the state of Michigan's battle with Gov Whitmer, who was genuinely DOING THE *RIGHT* thing to SAVE LIVES! (ended up endangering her own in very different and very real ways!)

@naikarrah

Itโ€™s like the GOP wants to kill people. Why is following public health guidelines political? Oh, right: thanks tRump.

@evamarie
their excuse is "saving the economy, so that people can work/keep small businesses open"
hasn't worked well at all so far though, has it?
there will be over HALF A MILLION US RESIDENTS DEAD BY END OF FEBRUARY...

@naikarrah

The countries who have paid their populace to stay at home and have had greater restrictions (New Zealand, Australia, Norway, Finland) have suffered much less impact to their economy.

So, โ€œgoing socialistโ€ has saved capitalism in those places. Go figure.

@evamarie
in all fairness, each of those are *successful* democratic socialist-based countries... there are other "socialilst" countries in South America and elsewhere in the world where the democracy is/prob is corrupt and the economic + health impacts are BOTH devastated!
