General political question, non-denominational: What difference does an endorsement make in your candidate-choice process? Does it matter whether it's an individual or organization (e.g. newspaper)?
It's never been a criteria for me, so I'm interested in how others see it.
@estherschindler it gives me information about the endorser's judgement more than the endorsee.
@estherschindler none. do my own research. however, i do notice when there's a vast, say 80%+, endorsement of a candidate by editorial boards.
@estherschindler i don’t give it much thought.
When it comes to this,
I prefer to dig through a candidates body of work and listen to what issues are important to them, not second-hand opinion by other people I don’t know.
I suppose I might be slightly more interested if an organization endorses one but that can go in any direction. It might open me to researching further.
One jumping off point I use is ballotopedia.
I only consider them insofar as watching out for endorsements I am *not* in favor of.
If someone i don't like endorses someone I'm neutral about, it's a tick in the 'cons' list for that candidate.
@estherschindler
