If his name is in that database of names who have crossed the border then he probably has been back in Russia since he fled in 2014 - have you seen the database itself and his name in that database leak?

he sold VK social media after his run in about not removing stuff & that social media site now is a Kremlin "tool" now - 2021 VKontakte, appointed the son of an influential Kremlin insider as its new chief executive. So, he coulda well been safe to travel to Russia without fear.
