Proton said in its announcement,
"Proton’s mission is to offer users a better, private alternative to the products and services that dominate the internet today. To do that, the company has to offer choice and listen to user needs. By offering a fully equipped Linux Proton VPN app, Proton is helping users who want to break free from big tech and use a free operating system developed by someone other than Microsoft or Apple."
@ecksmc Good news for users
personally i switch from using two VPNs
ProtonVPN free version
Mullvad VPN because you aren't tied into payments you manually pay for what you want/need all at the same price no % of for 1yr/2yr subscription nonsense you pay £4 and change for 1mth < if you want a year pay for a year same prices for ALL
i have my reasons for using both - proton free version is a good service for normal internet stuff
i hate companies that try and tie you into 1-2yr subscriptions by offering deals for VPNs
