@BlueStateBabe use chrome open on demand in a new tab
tap the three dots and see if "cast" shows
i'm not 100% sure it will but if chrome picks up your tv has cast funtion and it is on it should allow it
@ecksmc so you can watch movie cast to TV AND use your computer simultaneously? I have Firefox, but am using my Dell's own casting function, which casts whatever is on the screen.
@BlueStateBabe yeah
from chrome you can open a tab cast it then browse using chrome as normal while whatever is casting to TV will continue in the tab in the background
i can only give tips on chrome for casting as that is my main method for doing so
Firefox extension called fx_cast should allow it also
it's a chromecast i use not a smart tv though hence why i'm not 100% sure but in theory it should
@ecksmc can't find any Firefox extensions for casting by tab that are monitored by Firefox security
@BlueStateBabe fx-cast is reliable
it's open sourced although it is in beta constantly
but i get if you don't want to use it
it's the only one i know off
@BlueStateBabe have a wee read
https://www.xda-developers.com/firefox-extension-fx-cast-chromecast-videos-netflix-youtube/
xda-devs is a reliable source for stuff imo
@ecksmc hmmm, not listed in the menu of available Firefox
extensions...
@BlueStateBabe my bad
You can download the open source extension fx_cast from GitHub.
https://github.com/hensm/fx_cast/releases
a install guide first will help you
https://www.ghacks.net/2019/03/04/fx_cast-brings-chromecast-streaming-to-firefox-early-look/
been a while since i actually installed this on my firefox
a few hoops to jump through to get it installed but does the job
@ecksmc Reading thru-says I need other "things" to make it work, and I am not sure what they even are. Guess I will just have movie night or coso night, for now.
another method open both in separate windows
open coso in a tab and then open on demand in a tab
tap the on demand tab, double click, for it's settings and move tab to new window
play about with the windows till you have them side by side 😉
I will have to try this. TOnight, I gave up on multi tasking, and just watched Grindelwald. Well, okay, I also crocheted . But I did no social media, nor composing on computer, nor answering email. It was kinda nice. :) Made it more like a real "going to the movies" experience. 😀 I just wish I hadn't let myself become so technologically illiterate. A few years off, and it got so far ahead of me that I can't imagine how I'd ever catch up! Anyhow, thank you so much for your help!
@BlueStateBabe @ecksmc You are fine, I’m right there with you and so is CoSo. Just ask a question and someone will answer. That is how neighbors take care of each-other.Take courage and come along, you will not be left behind after all this is Counter.Social
@BlueStateBabe it might only show once you actually start watching something also
just so you know to play something then check if it's not showing without playing something
