My cat got sick while I was at work last night - her fur was all matted by her butt from the diarrhea so she's about to get her 1st major spa day today - PS she's feeling much better today, just not happy with me trying to clean her butt, hense the mobile spa coming soon....

@duglop check your plants for signs she's eating toxic stuff. Glad she's ok.

@Dane thank you but I don't have any plants...

@Dane she tends to eat too fast and then throws up, but sometimes she gets diarrhea rather than throw up - ugh

@duglop @Dane

That kind of diarrhea isn't normal... she might be allergic to something in the pet food. When cats wolf down their food- they tend to throw up... but it doesn't cause diarrhea.

@QueenOfEverything @Dane this is normal and typical for her - as I said it only happens when she eats too fast :)

@duglop @QueenOfEverything @Dane

I wonder if she maybe has IBS? But if it only happens when she eats fast, have you tried a slow feeder bowl? I got one for my puppy who was inhaling his food and promptly barfing it up again and it works great and was cheap. It's a pain in the arse to wash though lol. But easier than cleaning dog barf so....

@nonayadambidnes @QueenOfEverything @Dane no she's perfectly fine like I said she eats too fast and sometimes she doesn't throw up and then she gets diarrhea as a result I've had her for 7 years it's been like this since day one...

@duglop @QueenOfEverything @Dane
If it's not coming out one end, it's coming out another! 😄

@nonayadambidnes @QueenOfEverything @Dane exactly I took her to the vet about it 5 years ago they did a biopsy and everything, they determined that she is perfectly healthy they literally said it's cuz she didn't puke It had to come out another way normally she pukes it up but sometimes she doesn't

@duglop @nonayadambidnes @Dane

Okay, you know your cat. I’m a certified Crazy Catlady. I was one of the early Ragdoll breeders, loved the cats but not the business. For years now I’ve had a few pure breeds but all rescue cats.

So when you mention a health or behavioral problem with your cat, I go into research mode to figure out what’s going on.

One more topic and I’ll be quiet. 😎 what do you feed your cat? Wet food and/or dry food?

@QueenOfEverything @nonayadambidnes @Dane Both - she gets nutrasource dry cat food in her munchy bowl - I change the flavor each time, and she gets Sheba wet cat food, and sometimes I change to Fancy Feast for a treat for her - she's very finicky even for a cat... it's actually best to give cats proportion of wet & dry foods - so long as they are grain free

@duglop @nonayadambidnes @Dane

Okay, that's very helpful. My cats get Fancy Feast - it's a good brand and doesn't have as many recalls as some others. Sheba's good, too.

Does your cat have any dental issues? How old is she? My 16 yr old has lost most of her teeth. If she gets hungry & wet food isn't available- she'll scarf down the Purina (sensitive stomach) crunchies I leave out for the other 2 cats. Since she can't chew, she swallows it whole and then throws up.

@duglop @nonayadambidnes @Dane

I did a bit of research on NutriSource -good review w/flag

"Unfortunately, there are a significant number of plant ingredients. Peas are a starchy ingredient with limited nutritional value for cats and there are several high-fiber ingredients as well. While the fiber content of this recipe might benefit certain cats with digestive issues (and the added probiotics don’t hurt), the protein content is likely to be too high for many cats."

cats.com/nutrisource-cat-food-

@QueenOfEverything @nonayadambidnes @Dane um, she was raised on Nutrisource since day 1 when she arrived at the shelter - multiple vets recommended it and still do...

@duglop @nonayadambidnes @Dane

Nutrisource is a well-rated brand- in fact it hasn't had any recalls in 6 decades! However, even a great brand isn't for every cat. Individual healthy cats can have GI tracts that don't tolerate certain food additives. That's what the Cats.com comment about the protein content is likely too high for many cats.

If Shuri has always had this for crunchies... why not try another brand to see if it makes a difference for her?

@QueenOfEverything @nonayadambidnes @Dane WILL YOU PLEASE LISTEN - SHE EATS TOO FAST AND EVERY NOW AND THEN SHE'LL PUKE IT UP, AND EVEN MORE EVERY NOW AND THEN SHE GETS DIARRHEA....

@QueenOfEverything @nonayadambidnes @Dane I'm done here - feed your cat what you chose, it's NOT good to switch food for a cat ....

@QueenOfEverything @nonayadambidnes @Dane also, it's not a matter of knowing my cat, I took her to the vet 5 years ago for this same thing, $350 biopsy and exam later they said she's perfectly fine, she just got diarrhea instead of vomitting which isn't abnormal actually - like humans cats have gag reflexes and sometimes humans don't puke but poop it out - it's gotta come out someway sooner or later...
