I've been thinking about this the last few weeks. I can remember May Day back in the day as a little kid. My mom was very old-fashioned and she absolutely loved it. Man how I wish I could do it one more time for her... I really miss my mom
My May Day memory: we were staying with my grands while our new house was being finished. It was the small town where my mom grew up and I was completely disoriented moving from a larger city to this small place. I was temp attending my mom's old grade school and each grade chose a May Day king & queen to dance around an actual May Day pole. My mom got me elected May Day queen for my grade. I. Hated. It. To my relief I got chicken pox and missed everything.
