Apparently, Judge Cannon has only logged 14 days in the courtroom since being appointed by Trump. Her lack of experience on the bench should have disqualified her from handling such an important case.

@divisionbyzero

That's literally not the way anything works. Her nomination never should have made it out of the Senate. Assessing a judge's qualifications is literally their JOB.

Once a Federal judge is seated, you're stuck with them, unless Congress impeaches them or the rest of the Federal judges vote them off the bench.

@mcfate It is their job, but when they're pushing through a nomination purely for political reasons to stack the court with judges they perceive will be loyal to them, they don't look too deeply at qualifications.

@divisionbyzero

Then they should be voted out for not having taken their jobs seriously.

My comments still stand. You can't throw a judge off the Federal bench summarily, and making people mad on the Internet isn't a basis for doing so.

@mcfate I didn't say throw her off the bench. She's not qualified to be handling this particular case. Do you want a tech with 14 days of experience working on your car or one with a few years of experience?

@divisionbyzero

Federal judges are assigned to cases on a lottery basis, it's completely random.

If Smith wants to appeal her conduct, he has to wait β€” generally speaking β€” for the case to be completed in her court.

Telling her that you don't recognize her qualifications will just get you cited for contempt.

@divisionbyzero

Having a case tried isn't like getting your car repaired, you don't get to weigh in on how good you think the judge is.

You're not HIRING the judge.

Apples, oranges.
