2 things: 1) how are we defining "native families" cause I'm guessing it's not "indigenous" and 2) you sit there & tell me after a few generations, immigrant families economically resemble "native" families, that upward mobility is in the toilet, and then that those "native families" descended from Latin or African immigrants don't need affirmative action because RECENT immigrants are doing so well?

the point of affirmative action is not to give recent immigrants an extra leg up. it is to CORRECT COURSE for the descendants of non-white immigrants who did NOT enjoy the upward mobility of their white counterparts, the descendants of Latin, Asian & African immigrants who were Jim Crow'd out of the prosperity that their Italian and Russian contemporaries enjoyed. You can't enslave people for 450 years then go "well these white Russians climbed the ladder w/o affirmative action, you do it too."
