Showed up and did my part Wednesday on the WGA East picket lines here in NYC, along with fellow Star Trek writer Michael Jan Friedman. My sign is blank to express the horror of the empty page—and to show what studios will have until writers get a fair contract.

Last summer, I wrote a spec script called “Hangry,” for the Canadian comedy series Letterkenny. The fine folks at the How Are Ya Now? podcast kindly gave it a live "table read" — youtube.com/watch?v=d7Yq-Eob0A

We all had so much fun that I felt inspired to write another. My second Letterkenny spec, “UFO,” is scheduled for a live table read by the HAYN podcast team on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10PM ET — youtube.com/watch?v=yIkcrR5Sh8

Enjoy “Hangry” now and join us this Tuesday for “UFO”!

If the United Nations hosts a speed-matchmaking event for its delegates, does that qualify as an International Date Line?

For those who might want to know, I'm now up on post.news as “davidmack”.

Rewatching BARNEY MILLER, every night when I see this credit screen I am reminded why font choice and letter kerning are SO important…

In a moment of cosmic irony, today, a week after I received my long-awaited bottle of Sortilège Prestige (a fine Canadian maple whisky), I received an email from the seller … announcing they’ve just put it on sale at $30 less than what I paid.

Oh, COME ON. This was the key to the villain’s plot in KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE. Was NO ONE paying any goddamned attention?

I’m hearing Captain Picard say, “How about THESE nuts, Number One?”

“It’s not funny anymore, sir.”

“I beg to differ. Now—where’s Q? I want HIM to see these nuts.”

Rather presumptuous of NPR to publish its “Best Books of 2022” list in November, three weeks before my … *cough* … new Star Trek novel comes out.

Yeah, yeah, yeah … I'll show myself out.

I sometimes get weirdly attached to inanimate objects, especially if I’ve owned them for a long time.

I get nostalgic when it comes time to let one go. Usually this involves first apologizing to the item, and then thanking it for its years of loyal service.

Today's departing object of affection is an area rug I've owned for 31 years, since my first post-college apartment in NYC.

As Neil Peart once wrote, “Changes aren’t permanent, but change is.” Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
