There is a push toward restorative practices as opposed to punitive. I am on board.
But effective implementation is not the same in all populations. We have a buncha admin with experience in wealthy white schools, but that’s not our demographic.
Our students need to know there are fair consequences for inappropriate behaviors. They need to see it for themselves, but also need to see it for others so they can trust they’ll be safe.

@LaurelGreen Correct. Hopefully your (I assume new) administrators will figure that out sooner rather than later. Better to have many tools in your tool belt than arbitrarily limit something that might be effective for the right student.
