This is a scientific explanation for why I believe a Creator God exists and why I identify this Being with the God of the Bible. This is going to be a lengthy thread. Maybe grab a ☕.

Short answer: There isn't enough time or space for evolutionary processes to produce life in the universe.

Now that we have declared our sides let us consider our tools. To test the physical world humans have developed many empirical tools and methods over many centuries. The fruit of that labor has been the creation of vast collections of data about our physical world which we have mined to build modern society. In short, this method works. A powerful proof of this approach is probably being held in your hand right now.

But what of the metaphysical? By definition we cannot use empirical tools to test that which is not part of the physical world. Put more eloquently, we cannot put God in a test tube. Empirical methods don't work but there are other tools we can use to test for the existence of a mind behind life in the universe. Namely, these tools involve reason and logic.
But I said this was a scientific explanation. So, I will not be arguing reason and logic but science and math.

In a big enough universe, everything happens
@BrentSullivan I agree but only if it's big enough and/or old enough. Ours is neither. The math of probability doesn't lie. Read it for yourself.
@danielbsmith
The math of probability relies on initial assumptions
@BrentSullivan My assumptions favor natural processes deliberately. Refer to the notes at the end of the thread.
When it comes to the #OriginOfLife there is no shortage of adherents but, broadly speaking, there are only two possible explanations--a physical one or a metaphysical one--and these two options comprise a mutually exclusive binary choice.
The dominant physical explanation comprises some form of evolutionary process. (BTW, the details don't matter at this level of argument.) Its counterpoint on the metaphysical side comprises some form of special creation by a divine or powerful being.
