One summer I worked at the general store my uncle owned, in the town he owned next to the Spokane Indian reservation (and downwind of the Dawn mining uranium refinery, btw).

Every month on the day the government checks came in, the old men lined up for 2 bottles of Thunderbird.

He'd sell each of them no more than that until all the wives and kids had their groceries.
