what a great way to wake up in the morning and see we've broken the top 2500!
@Lindy potentially, it's not always using data tho, I don't think they've implemented much talking back and forth yet, just mainly hey I need work, hey here's this work unit back.
The main data usage would come from uploading and downloading work units.
This is some traffic information based on my log file:
A GPU unit is about 110 megs in total
GPU DL: 17.39 (brand new)
GPU UP: 93.04 (completed)
And a CPU unit is about 10 megs
CPU DL: 1.21(brand new)
CPU UP: 1.41 (completed)
@crazyuncleharris It's pretty frustrating for us. We seem to be just outside coverage by any provider. AT&T is about 1000 feet down the road, but they won't hook us up.
@Lindy living in Maine I know the feeling I've found house's I'd really love to live in but I cannot get high speed internet access too. Kind of hard to buy a place to live in when you need internet access to do your job
@Lindy have you tried any WISPs (wireless ISPs)
@crazyuncleharris Yes, in fact. There are three of us here working out of two buildings about fifty feet apart. They sent us a modem with no way to hook up antenna. So it's good for one hook up for now. Note Bene: My son is handling all this. My understanding of it all is ... limited. I'm a camera geek.
@Lindy that's really odd you should just be able to plug in a wireless router to their modem and be off in running but I digress I've seen wisps do some weird ass shit.
And being in a Facebook group for wisp start ups I've seen people who really really shouldn't be running a wisp starting a wisp.
(Like reselling a residential 1gig coaxial connection split down below said isps 100 Meg plan and costing more than said isps 100 Meg plan. In a place where ISP has full coverage)
@crazyuncleharris It's T-Mobile. I think that about sums it up.
@Lindy YUP
@crazyuncleharris Others in this area are way too expensive right now. (building a house)
@crazyuncleharris I'm thinking my provider might object. I have my computer tethered to my phone.
