"Other countries have social safety nets. The U.S. has women."
"Another part of this I can’t stop thinking about is how our lack of a social safety net is putting women’s health and relationships at risk. So much of the public conversation has focused on the women who are dropping out of the workforce. Those stories are important, but to me they signal the centrality of capitalism in all of our public concerns."

Great piece.
This reminds me of Anu Partanen's book, excellent and very down-to-earth analysis of social contract, pseudo-freedom.
@artemis
Should I download and post the papers, linked to in the article?
They are also very accessible and not filled with jargon.
Very kind of you. I can see them full text available on SocArXiv. But, if you post them , they may generate further interest. It is a great topic to discuss and more awareness is needed.
Capitalism seems to depend on exploiting (or cheating) the non-valued.
@corlin I haven't read the articles yet; today's empathy stress limits already exceeded.
But tagging cuz I expect they are worth reading.
@corlin

We laughed in that smug way of youth...
