Code's eclectic music pick of the day is:

Today I woke up with this song in my head. While some people passionately dislike covers, I find them refreshing and occasionally even better than the original.

The Bird and the Bee have released albums of their 'reinterpretations' of songs, and my favorite is chock-full of Hall & Oates.

So for a lazy, lovely, lilting Sunday, here is I Can't Go For That, by The Bird and the Bee:

i assume covers are a form of tribute to songs & artists. perhaps generated by the same feeling which prompts listeners to share songs on social media

@richquaal I would agree with both points.

Regarding social sharing, I can't speak to why others do it, but for me it is all about joy.

In a life that might otherwise be overwhelmingly bleak and foam-gray, stories (which include music and books and movies and poetry and even design) represent little islands of joy and light to me.

On the chance someone is out there who feels internally the same, it makes sense to share the rare and delicate discovered gems that keep us alive and awake.

I get what you mean Code. Imo some songs shouldn't be messed with, according to MY criteria πŸ˜‚.
There are others though, which have been so overplayed that I can't listen to them one more time.
I can usually listen to a cover of one of "those" songs πŸ˜‰.
Every so often a cover is better than the original πŸ€—.
I like listening to different versions of songs and their reimaginings.
Pssst, this was one of THOSE songs πŸ™„. Listened all the way through. πŸ‘
