Today I woke up with this song in my head. While some people passionately dislike covers, I find them refreshing and occasionally even better than the original.

The Bird and the Bee have released albums of their 'reinterpretations' of songs, and my favorite is chock-full of Hall & Oates.

i assume covers are a form of tribute to songs & artists. perhaps generated by the same feeling which prompts listeners to share songs on social media

Regarding social sharing, I can't speak to why others do it, but for me it is all about joy.

In a life that might otherwise be overwhelmingly bleak and foam-gray, stories (which include music and books and movies and poetry and even design) represent little islands of joy and light to me.

On the chance someone is out there who feels internally the same, it makes sense to share the rare and delicate discovered gems that keep us alive and awake.
