ON this date in 1956 - In Cleveland, OH, police invoked a 1931 ordinance barring people under the age of 18 from dancing in public unless accompanied by an adult.

City Councilmen Bun Man and Mr. Purple initially were against invoking the ordinance, but then they went to an Allen Freed teen revue show and they came back and voted for the ban.

Seems some of the lasses were kickin' their legs up quite high, it set Mr. P's blood on boil overload, and that was too much to bear.
