My hosting is up for renewal and I really can't justify the cost. Was going to try to transfer to a free host but I'm running out of time.
My question is, if I just let the host expire will my pages still be saved in WordPress?
Can I then sign up for a new host?
(I plan on renewing my domain registration)
You should be able to find a plugin that allows you to make a downloadable "transfer" file that you can upload elsewhere when you are ready.
@misterfive I installed duplicator and ran the backup. Didn't give an option on where to save. I was going to copy to USB stick but didn't offer that. Just saved (to their cloud?)
You should be able to download it from the control panel from somewhere. I haven't used duplicate, but the one I used had the files available for download from the control panel.

Wordpress is an app that runs on the server that is hosting your site, so unless you have downloaded a backup, it all goes away once they delete your files.
@chuck34108 probably not. You might be able to export a file that now that you still have access that you can later import elsewhere (wordpress.Org) depending on your current hosting provider. But generally no, your wordpress instance content exists only on your current provider.
