The only rational I ever get from conservatives for the need to make this country so shitty is that the US "can't financially afford" not to be shitty. The problem is I've really studied the resources available to this country and we absolutely "can financially afford" not to be shitty.
Of course, this doesn't even speak to the fact that their god tells them to be bigots.

Then they get all huffy about the fact I no longer want to speak to them. "We don't hold your political views against you", they say. Well, of course not. Big deal! My progressive attitudes reveal I have some empathy (a barely tolerable weakness in their view). Their conservative dogma demonstrates they are assholes. We are not the same!
