@mcfate They don't need a new effort, just to keep on doing what they have been. That's all I'm saying.
"They"? Doing what, precisely?
This is hand-waving, if you ask me. People need to stop wasting energy giving themselves the willies over nonsense.
Nobody ever decided to cast a vote on the basis of a hashtag on Twitter or an ad on Facebook.
What they CAN do is convince people like you that your vote somehow is irrelevant and meaningless and persuade you to share that conviction with others.
You should probably stop, you're not moving anything in a good direction with this.
@mcfate Well, perhaps I missed something at the beginning of the thread and we're not on exactly the same topic. I was on the topic of the known fact that Russia has a large social media effort focused on US politics. "Sergei", as Stonkettle likes to call them.
I'm on the topic of "it's a complete waste of effort on the Russians' part when it comes to actually influencing elections; the chief effect seems to be convincing a few of the easily-frightened that they're more capable than they are, and convincing them to share that belief."

@chakaal @Finnegan
Like I said, Putin, Xi, and the rest of them have other worries right now. The last thing they're looking for is ANOTHER three hundred million aggrieved people looking to them for better answers right now.
Hey, you can speculate about anything, but if you're going to make up fairy tales about things, at least go with something more interesting.
Fu Manchu. Ming the Merciless. Professor Moriarty.
If you've abandoned concrete reality for fantasy, go all the way.
