At the suggestion of my orthopedic surgeon, I’m working to get myself in good muscular shape before my total knee replacement scheduled for February. My personal trainer at the fitness center told me today that these efforts will make a significant difference in my recovery. Both these guys have endured serious injuries and surgeries and long rehab, something that convinces me that they’re speaking from experience rather than theory.

@cassandra17lina If you are overweight reducing that will help a lot. My orthopedic group, one of the best in the city, said that every pound of weight reduction equals 10 pounds pressure off of your knees.

@MidnightRider Working on it! That’s the number one recommendation in the book I’m reading.

@cassandra17lina Someone at that level of distress might be saved by a drug like Ozempic. I’ll feel sorry for those folks if RFK is able to ban it. My personal feeling is that Donald Trump is already using it as well.

@MidnightRider I hate to think how many people are stockpiling Ozempic now, denying it to the people who really need it so they can make a fortune selling it later.

@cassandra17lina It will just become part of the black market, like everything else people in this country believe they can prevent. After all, in my city I’m sure I could get fentanyl, heroin methamphetamine within 20 minutes if I knew where to go.

@MidnightRider @cassandra17lina There is a recipe for make at home day after pills. It circulated last time they started shit. I haven't seen it circulating now. But it will re appear

@cassandra17lina @MidnightRider are they pulling it from the market? I know many of those are being deemed questionable.

@TrueBloodNet No RFK thinks that making America healthier includes taking this drug off the market. I can’t imagine the big Pharma didn’t juice both sides of the political equation, so RFK might just be speaking out his ass on the learning curve.

@MidnightRider Hmmm but that might be related to long term effects that actual science is saying these drugs may be dangerous. I've read enough that I would never take it (and I'm obese) Really, RFKJr will be a mixed bag. He's crazy about some stuff (vaccines) and may be right about other stuff.

@TrueBloodNet It may save some peoples lives, or it may ruin other peoples lives. That’s almost every drug that was ever manufactured. What I’m saying is, he may underestimate the power above him. Perhaps that is a weakness that is genetic.

@MidnightRider Maybe. But the corporate overlords are a problem (I'm not in any way defending RFKJr I have despised him for a very long time.)

@TrueBloodNet I’m guessing RFK might get this in an email from the real power, hey Bob did you know this thing still existed?

@cassandra17lina @MidnightRider Just for the record, later next year a lot of cold and flu meds (that are taken internally not nasally) are likely to be pulled from the market. It has nothing to do with RFKJr. They discovered after decades on the shelves that they don't do anything and it's taken almost 2 years already to pull them with more 'public input' before decision making. There is plenty of room for improvement of the system.

@cassandra17lina @MidnightRider The evidence on these cold and flu things is so clear, that many companies are pulling them from the shelves on their own. Can you imagine how much money they made on something that's snake oil? SMH

@TrueBloodNet Osteopenia. Guess what kids? I have seen osteopenia in 20-year-old bones.

@MidnightRider Hmmm So you're saying it doesn't work? I'm slated for one as soon as I get around to it. I already had one at the VA and they started me on meds.

@TrueBloodNet are you saying they already have you on meds to increase the calcium in your bones? Fosamax? If so, what do they plan on doing after the scan that’s different?

@MidnightRider Well, I was diaged w osteoporosis. Been on meds 3 or 4 years, then got a C7 (I think) fracture. I've switched systems VA to Private doc so I don't know. It may be they have no baseline cuz can't get VA records

@TrueBloodNet It very well be to establish a baseline so they can monitor whether your condition worsens. I can see the logic in that. In the office I worked in? It was akin to the fluoroscope of yore that people used to see if their shoes fit right. Or like the two CT scans I got to get one tooth implant that was strictly to pay for that doctors machine.

@MidnightRider I've read really mixed reviews on whether the meds actually do anything for osteo too. I don't trust capitalism. :/

@TrueBloodNet You shouldn’t, even finding people to trust is a formidable task. I finally found a fantastic dentist where I live, it took me 12 years. He’s the first one that didn’t try to sell me the “deep clean”, which is so popular in the south east.

@TrueBloodNet When my friend’s mom was alive, before she passed she had a Porsche Cayman. In 2006 she was paying $300 per oil change. Why? Because the dealer told her it was a difficult process. I did it for her, it’s the same as every other car except they use a cartridge instead of a spin on filter.

@TrueBloodNet My dad’s friend’s Shell station had this sign in the repair bay: “ we cheat the other guy and pass the savings on to you”. He was super honest and that sign cracked me up every time I went to see him.

@TrueBloodNet listen to this one. My best friend from x-ray school is a CT cardiac tech. His wife works in the catheterization lab next-door. She tells me they slap stents in people that don’t need them all the do da day.

@cassandra17lina @MidnightRider

I *wish* I could stockpile it. My prescription from the doc is for a 3 month supply but because of the already existing shortages of it, the pharmacy refuses to fill it more than a month (4 doses) at a time.

Whatever negative health effects it may have are offset by my low blood sugar. Ozempic is a medication I need. Prior to taking it my "normal" blood sugar was in the 200's no matter how carefully I ate.

@Tarnagh Ask Cinny how safe Xanax is. CBS spent two years vilifying opiates yet there are a myriad of products that are dangerous. I had admit that they mixed martinis with klonopins. Neurontin is another nasty ass drug.
