@cassandra17lina ARE they talking about eliminating SS or cut benefits? Very different. There IS a solution to sure up the fund. 1- remove the cap on income that is ‘taxed’. 2- increase the ‘tax’ by 1%.
BUT the idea of increasing one’s taxes is not palatable to most. But sadly THAT is what needs to happen to keep the fund whole.
We could also grant work visas to the millions of asylum seekers, and tax their earnings for SS.
@cassandra17lina That is a HUGE cut. Right now the fund has about 2.7 trillion. Their wanting to cut disability benefits ( I’m not in that category) would render most of those people homeless. Almost like they want a Hitler-esque culling of ‘unproductive’ citizens!!!
