I read this article and it twanged on my guilt strings.
What do you think?
“Culture of Contempt”
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/03/02/opinion/sunday/political-polarization.html
Worth a complete read.
During my professional career, I completed over 200 credit hours of Graduate Level education in Security Strategies, Special Education, Educational Administration, School Psychology and Exercise Pysiology, I need to remember when I engage others, they aren't coming from a similar knowledge schema...
I am focusing on listening more and talking less initially, and only in respectful response to differing opinions
@Madken65 A friend pestered me relentlessly to read it throughout yesterday. He said he was close to tears when he read it. And he doesn’t cry...He’s an old asshole (with a heart) We both are seasoned SPED teachers.
Thank you for sharing this <3
@Minholkin You are welcome♥️
It is interesting that the culture of contempt perpetuates itself so effectively that people who don’t convey contempt become targets of contempt from some folks.
What a quagmire!
@carmahaz
I thought the article was spot on, caused me to consider more my public behavior and how I work to engage with others as opposed to just disregarding them...
