So as an early BDay present to myself I tried a flotation pod yesterday. I found it interesting and would love to compare experiences with anyone on here that has tried it.
@WellWellWell3 It was very relaxing once you get settled. The more you relax and don’t move the better. Super easy to float with all the salt. After I was relaxed and a little tired but mentally very clear. Also the weightless part helped my lower back a bit. The mental clarity lasted for another day or so. I can see how doing it regularly would be helpful. They say the getting settled part gets easier to get into a meditative state.
@bmacmixer I think being able to meditate is the key. I think my wife would freak out, being in the dark, being vulnerable, her mind would race. I think I’d love it. I’m gonna try it, there’s one down the road in Summerville SC that I’ve looked at. Thx for sharing.
Meditation and chanting took me through two cancer surgeries.
And beyond into recovery.
@WellWellWell3 Yeah allowing yourself to relax is the key. If they do a discount for a first float I would go for it. I was surprised my date hated it since we talked about before hand and she had suggested doing it for our birthdays.
@WellWellWell3 I also used some body relaxation techniques I learn from doing self hypnosis and they worked almost immediately in the float environment.
@WellWellWell3 I went with a date who was interested in trying it. Had even suggested it. Turns out she hated it. It was too hot and the isolation part in the dark freaked her out a bit so she got out early. She just couldn’t get settled. So it might not be for everyone but worth a try at least once. The place I went discounted first time floaters.
@bmacmixer how was it interesting? I’m dying to go it. Thx!
