Making blanket conclusions about it is a bit like declaring that hammers should be ridiculed because they only exist to smash fingers. It all comes down to how it's used.

Also, mark my words, proper AI use will be a marketable skill in the not-too-distant future.

"Prompt craft" and "prompt engineering" will separate the hired from those who keep looking, and soon.

There's a reason why Microsoft and Google are rushing AI offerings, and it isn't entirely a hollow rush for relevancy.

You will need to effectively use these tools in your daily lives. Guaranteed.

Also... "AI" is a bit of a misnomer. These are just advanced algorithms. They aren't self-aware, so the doomsayer take is not much more than science fiction — for now.

We're on track to destroy ourselves long before AI can.

Agree about the moniker, leads folks to expect it to be human-like. It isn't and it won't ever be until the computers use more than bit flips AND have some sort of embodiment.
chatGPT can't make crochet patterns. No spatial sense.
