So… what items would be best to buy now? We have a small freezer & a vacuum sealer so I want to think of things that I should buy now that may be more expensive in the future.
@annamuneca
4 suggestions:
1. Items that are on sale for the holidays like turkey/turkey parts and ham but will skyrocket in price once we're past
Thanksgiving (turkey and ham)
Christmas (beef and ham)
New Year's (beef)
Valentine's Day (beef and shellfish)
2. Items that you don't cook/from another culture that you like. Palak paneer, maybe?
3. Items that you eat all the time. Hash browns, maybe?
4. Anything with a bar code.
@LordyIHopeTheRTapes the first one is a good point indeed.
@annamuneca Looked at powdered eggs today. The price is through the roof. :( 72 egg equivilants for 42 bucks. Normally that is about 2-3 weeks here.
China trade war:
Anything chicken and possibly turkey. Shrimp (a top 3 meat for me), fish: salmon/tuna/cod/tilapia. Pork and Beef should be ok they mostly come from Canada and Australia
Flour. While we grow it, we also get a lot from China, Ukraine etc.
=Dog and cat food=
Canned mushrooms, corn
Olive Oil
