Things that have been stressing me out lately: well over forty thousand people directly depend on my job getting done properly.
Previously, that job was shared with another thirteen people.
Now it's shared with four - and the most critical portions with only two.
Making matters worse, I also have to do a lot of tasks that used to be done by my superiors; they were also let go.
I am now completely essential, and it is extremely stressful. There is no redundancy or fallback.
@IrelandTorin that’s probably the best way to talk a company 😔 I’m sorry they’ve made these poor choices.
@annamuneca I appreciate your sympathy.
Honestly, I'm of the mind that bean counters should never, ever be put in charge of anything technical without oversight from technical personnel with veto power over the beancounters' decisions.
When decisions are made based on beancounting alone, you are setting yourself up for disaster.
@IrelandTorin that’s one reason why (of many) left my previous job. Money and budget was more important than logistics and personnel.
@annamuneca Oh, it's worse than a company... it's a public institution, being horribly mismanaged by new management.
Their infrastructure is crumbling, and they just cut some of the only personnel capable of keeping it all working / preventing a cascading failure.
If that cascading failure occurs, the whole institution may collapse - and it's an economically crucial institution.
