So heres the thing. I've woken up scared. I've an underactive thyroid condition (Autoimmune, Hashimotos, controlled with Levothyroxine - t4 and the odd bit of Thyronine - T3) and googling like mad I can only find bits about any effect of #Coronavirus #Corvid19 on people with this condition, clearly cos the science is just emerging. The British Thyroid Foundation say its probably fine, no increased risk but I have issues with them anyway over many things in UK thyroid treatment world 1/
.. and that basically means that my own immune system attacks my own thyroid, causing it to malfunction. Heres the really scary bit - the cytokine storm that occurs in some covid-19 patients is caused by an already over zealous immune system attacking the virus and wrecking total havoc. Clearly the science is emerging so its difficult to ascertain whether this applies. Sorry for rambling but I guess it helps to get it down. Does anyone else on here have this condition? What are you thoughts? /
@Zailrand I have Hashimotos. Managed by meds. Worried about that as a condition that could put me at risk. It is unknown. Prepare for social distancing to protect yourself, is all I can say.
@Ac2alLivingScientist pretty much what I'm doing atm...
@Zailrand I have autoimmune problems too. I don't have any thoughts on it, because I don't understand the science. I have to trust my doctor, I guess. I can do a virtual visit to discuss it with her.
