Courtesy of Mike's Weather Page on Facebook ... Looks like this is going to become something. Right now, our ten-day forecast shows thunderstorms for Wednesday with 20 MPH winds, with two days of rain before that.

Now at 80%. The next name on the list is .

The ten-day forecast for Merritt Island is showing more confidence. Winds for Wednesday now at 22 MPH.

The averages for where the models show the eye to pass ... Landfall around Tampa, exiting the state through Cape Canaveral. But it's early; almost the entire state is in play, except for the Panhandle.

This has me feeling a bit better about our chances here in Brevard County. The color code suggests a 50%-60% chance of 40+ MPH sustained winds.

The ten-day forecast has 28 MPH sustained winds for us on Wednesday-Thursday.

Combine the two, and it suggests we should have winds that are annoying but not threatening.

But we'll see how the day goes.

Not so good for the Gulf side.

We have two launches scheduled for this week. Both the civilian and military spaceports rely on the 45th weather squadron for forecasts.

If you want a peek behind the scenes, here are two useful links:

The home page for the 45th weather squadron: patrick.spaceforce.mil/About-U

The hurricane page for the squadron: patrick.spaceforce.mil/Hurrica

Right now they're at HURCON 5, meaning, "Something wicked this way comes." πŸŒ€

I found this on the 45th weather squadron's website. It suggests we'll have 34 knot (40 mph) winds but not much more.

We're going to have lots of rain, but 40 mph winds is quite survivable.

@WordsmithFL
Latest track has Milton passing over LC39 where Europa Clipper is scheduled to leave the planet on Thursday.
Can you say "Marooned"?

@teengee I was contacted today by someone flying out an entourage for the launch. I told him they should cancel, there's no way that launches on Thursday.

@WordsmithFL

Oy! Like Tampa doesn't have enough problems already.

Whatever route Milton takes over land, I hope it loses strength, but not speed, quickly. The storms that slow down over the mainland only prolong rain bands which cause major flooding.

@WordsmithFL
That’s a really useful link, thanks for posting it.
