@JoyfullyDazed I was musing if Mitt Romney could attract enough sane votes. He'd have to resign from the Senate, of course, but he's already said he's not running for re-election.

The MAGAs will never vote for him, but he might attract a few Democratic votes. Eh, never happen.

The other daydream I had was wondering if any Republicans in Democratic districts might re-register independent rather than go down with the ship. They could caucus with the Dems. Eh, never happen.

1968 was an awful year, but it ended with Apollo 8 putting the first humans in orbit around the Moon.

This week has been one big bummer, but I watched a Falcon Heavy launch earlier today send a NASA probe to study a metal asteroid, and in a couple minutes I'm going outside to watch SpaceX launch more Starlinks.

Humanity is a perplexing species.
