#Politics Another idle thought ... If McCarthy needs the votes to survive as Speaker, would the Democrats consider supporting him in exchange for McCarthy shutting down the #Biden impeachment inquiry?
Again, very unlikely. The Dems seem better off letting the clown show go on. But McCarthy has the ammo now to shut it down, citing the committee's own witnesses saying there's no evidence. (2/2)
@KGinKS He'd lose his entire party if he agreed to a pro-choice bill.
I suspect that most of both parties would be glad to resoundingly reject the MAGA caucus. That would expose them for how small and extreme they are. They'd realize their "vacate" trick is toothless. Maybe then the rest of the House could get back to governing.
But the Dems may see an upside to the Republicans' circular firing squad embarrassing itself on national TV ... if anyone were watching ...
@WordsmithFL Right. I would be reluctant to do anything to help republicans without HUGE concessions. It's to much fun watching them accomplish nothing except yammering on about Hunter Biden.
I saw an article early today saying the house has only passed 15 bills this year. By far the least productive session of congress.
@WordsmithFL They can get a lot more than that
@WordsmithFL
If I were there to negotiate the ask would be much more than the Biden impeachment. That will fall on it's own lack of evidence.
How about a nation wide abortion bill with favorable standards?
A better voting rights bill?
Extending the CR to September 30th?
Got to make it hurt, nothing is free.
