A year ago today, we were monitoring the approach of #Hurricane Ian. The storm had just reach Category 2 south of Cuba.
A year ago this morning, #Hurricane Ian had passed over Cuba and was on its way to the Gulf Coast. Models showed it making landfall as a Category 3 near Tampa then cross the Florida peninsula.
A year ago this evening, the Gulf Coast south of Tampa was preparing for the arrival of #Hurricane Ian as a Category 4.
A year ago this morning, #Hurricane Ian was barrelling towards Port Charlotte as a Category 4 hurricane. The outer bands were already spawning tornadoes.

And it was a hard reminder, the cone in the forecast is for potential center track. If you are anywhere in the potential track cone, prepare for a direct hit.
@pendrag Spoiler ... Eventually Ian made its way across the state towards us. The eye went right over north Merritt Island. it split the uprights at KSC between Pads 39A and 39B.
I went outside at the time to see how calm it was, before the winds reversed. Pretty cool.
@pendrag Well, it was pretty disorganized by the time it got here. There was no clear sky. But I did see the winds on the fake lake in the backyard go one way, stop, then go the other way. I don't think our winds ever got above 40 MPH or so.
Believe me, if the Big One is coming, I'm the first one to hit the road.
