I really, really wish we had sprung for the below-ground tornado shelter a decade ago. We got near-missed, but had any of the four tornados that ripped through here last night actually hit our house, no "center room away from windows" would have made a bit of difference.

That is frightening as hell. Glad it didn't hit you, but maybe find a way to build the underground shelter? Probably a pricey thing these days, huh?

I've seen community underground shelters built.
I wish the local and federal gvmt would take more of an incentive to build more in vulnerable areas.
