My wife is trying to get me to join Blue Sky. Opinions? What are the drawbacks?
@TwiHusband As far as I know, CounterSocial is the only social media network that automatically blocks users and bots from "bad actor" countries. If you use BlueSky, Twitter or any other social media service, you won't get this protection, and will probably have to wade through a lot more spam in your timeline.
@AmericanPartisan @TwiHusband
Bluesky has some type of block listing that an individual can make. So, if I put a 100 names on a block list, you click something and it’s now your list too. If I add another name to block list, it automatically is on yours too.
@TwiHusband it is where the smart folks went to after leaving twitter.
Over time more assholes will arrive. The moderation is better, but we know that effective moderation at scale is almost impossible. And your data will be sold, there is no subscription model.
@TwiHusband
Everything is public. Which may not be a bad thing, but anyone can look at your account/posts without being a member.
Videos only a minute long, that’s limited right now. And there’s a limit to how many you can post in 24 hrs.
No gifs except the ones they have (Tenor?).
No ads, which is good.
All of that might change. I don’t think it’s a bad spot, not yet.
@TwiHusband
Probably a good news source in time.
Some big accounts there, likely more soon.
I’m not on Bluesky. I might sign up.
But sorry CoSo, 😂, I’ll only express my true feelings/opinions HERE. Stuck with me.
@TwiHusband I just got off of it. Not secure. Lots of questionable accounts.
@TwiHusband No nazis
