I get a kick watching police department news conferences. There's always 20 people there spread out behind the podium looking solemn in their dress blues. The chief speaks, a department community affairs person speaks, then everyone leaves.
Like, what was with all the other people? Is it like a music group, everyone is there but only the lead singer gets to talk? Is appearing some sort of reward? "Mommy's going to be on TV tonight, honey". Bodyguards? Moral support?
