I remain unclear why your promoting Twaffle on this site should be of interest to anyone.
@mcfate I'm not promoting it. I rue its demise. A platform not run by a psycho is sorely needed for dissemination of public information.
Countpoint: Twaffle's never been actually relevant to anyone who doesn't use it, and that includes four out of five Americans.
@mcfate I don't know that to be true. I live in the West and it is (was) especially useful during wildfires. Current, on the ground info from ppl in a situation is invaluable.
That's literally the edgiest of edge cases there.
The fact is that 22% of Americans are on Twitter; of those, 90% produce zero content.
Radios continue to work, and if you're relying on having Internet service during a wildfire, you're probably not being entirely realistic.
@mcfate I haven't relied on internet traffic exclusively. I also listen to 911 traffic and local news. However, in the Troublesome Fire particularly Twitter was enormously helpful in getting ppl over the continental divide. It would be nice to have a public service platform where this info would be provided.
I'd ask you to show your work there, but I understand it's futile. You're going to believe what you like, regardless of how unmoored it is. Fine.
Go use Twitter for all your wildfire-evading needs.

Last I checked, approximately 8-10% of Americans use Twitter.
I'm highly skeptical about the degree to which emergency services are taking their cues from random Twaffle postings.
