i'm reading someone's comment about the increase in min wage 'harming' the economy & how tipping culture is necessary & isn't all that diff to a customer.
1. corporations making millions/billions have really spun this 'economy' thing & the reason they can't pay decent wages to the masses, well. i mean, ceo salaries, anyone?
2. tipping culture is shit b/c no 1 should have to depend on tips to make a decent living. tips should be the bonus. period.
@singlemaltgirl someone working full time should be able to survive without having to have a side hustle
If the lowest earners earned more, then that money would likely get added back into the economy for food, cars, clothing, entertainment, dining out, electronics.... As in a big boost to many other sectors of the economy - which is good for everyone!
@TheCuriousWoodworker well we saw that w/ stimulus cheques, didn't we? lowest echelons of the class system (& we have a class system) spend their $$ as they get it b/c they often need to. the richest hoard their $$.
we know this - the consumer confidence index is based on this. it's why the economy was so red hot, we had that oppty for inflation.
sigh.
@singlemaltgirl you said it better than I could
Forgive my ignorance - Canada issued stimulus checks for pandemic relief?
@singlemaltgirl thanks for the info
I'm a little ashamed of how little I know about the northern neighbors, especially when so many people seem to know about usπ
@singlemaltgirl π
@TheCuriousWoodworker that's okay. we can always tell you if you ask. and we appreciate you asking!
