i'm reading someone's comment about the increase in min wage 'harming' the economy & how tipping culture is necessary & isn't all that diff to a customer.
1. corporations making millions/billions have really spun this 'economy' thing & the reason they can't pay decent wages to the masses, well. i mean, ceo salaries, anyone?
2. tipping culture is shit b/c no 1 should have to depend on tips to make a decent living. tips should be the bonus. period.
@singlemaltgirl someone working full time should be able to survive without having to have a side hustle
If the lowest earners earned more, then that money would likely get added back into the economy for food, cars, clothing, entertainment, dining out, electronics.... As in a big boost to many other sectors of the economy - which is good for everyone!
@singlemaltgirl you said it better than I could
Forgive my ignorance - Canada issued stimulus checks for pandemic relief?
@singlemaltgirl thanks for the info
I'm a little ashamed of how little I know about the northern neighbors, especially when so many people seem to know about usπ
@TheCuriousWoodworker that's okay. we can always tell you if you ask. and we appreciate you asking!
@singlemaltgirl π
@TheCuriousWoodworker well, we didn't call them 'stimulus cheques'. we had something called 'cerb'. canadian emergency response benefit (those were for normally employed who lost their jobs b/c pandemic closures & then pandemic impact). then we gave some more support for seniors & others who wouldn't have normally been eligible for cerb. it really did mean that peeps who needed to buy things like food, ppe, or just stuff they never could afford normally, went out & bought or bought online.
