@nursefrombirth I understand. I'm of the opinion that Secret Service protection for former presidents is the right thing to do, but he's doing as he always does and testing the limits to the breaking point.
I think that protection should cut both ways. We protect former presidents not just because they served and made themselves vulnerable to retaliation from their detractors, but also to protect precious state secrets. Guard them to keep those safe, but they should protect the secrets too
@Fellixe Again, if he needs more protection than the sitting president and needs protection taken away from another ex-president, he should pay for his own. Guard secrets, they never could with him, why try now?

Secret Service needs help. Through my police parents we've known a coupe of officers recruited into SS and anecdotally they aren't on the top of the list for well run law enforcement agencies.
I believe Carter declined ongoing SS protection years ago
