The sim continues to teach.
Heavy wind shears reported at my destination but I figured they'd dissipate by the time I got there (Ron Howard voiceover: "They hadn't") and took off for it anyway.
Three approaches, three go arounds. Should've diverted but tried a fourth time. I nailed a landing all right...at the top of an NTSB investigative docket.
If I didn't respect wind shear in the real world, I sure as hell do now.
@FreedomATX Damn straight.
@Taurion: Screenshot there needs the caption, "This is fine," or "I remain master strategist."
@thedisasterautist Ha!!!
Shear can be exceptionally dangerous. In certain types of weather, it occurs with microbursts.
@LSWellesley No lie. I knew better than to press my luck but even though I fought bumps and breezes all the way down, some dumbass part of me thought I could nail it :/
There are CFI’s around who will teach you to do crosswind landings. You just have to hunt them out.
You can try, and learn, a lot of stuff in sim. One hopes we all learn what not to do, as much as what to do.
@Taurion If you're going to learn the hard way, better to do it in a sim lol.
