Try living here. I've never been so disgusted in my life. I'm also scared as fuck. I'm old and disabled. They won't hesitate to kill me. I'm worried about my granddaughters. What kind of country will they grow up in, where they're viewed as nothing more than fuck toys and baby minders?

I am so very disappointed in my fellow US citizens. I knew we should have left in 2016. It would have been easier to expat—now the numbers are against me.

2016 was when I decided to leave Canada. Took me a year to save up after the call, but that November election, and the campaign leading up to it, brought out shameful sides of white Canadians, too: emboldened racism and xenophobia that sickened me, and left me with the feeling that it was time to learn more about discourses elsewhere in the world, to fortify myself in an understanding of what we need to heal.
Eight years later... we're still so far from growth.
